PROJECT BACKGROUND

Project zero MIND is an attempt to research and clinically evaluate treatment protocols that halt mid life neurodegeneration.   It is partly based on the findings of the late Dr George Bartzokis (1956-2014) UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior  http://newsroom.ucla.edu/stories/in-memoriam:-dr-george-bartzokis-neuroscientist-who-developed-the-myelin-model-of-brain-disease Bartzokis key finding was that the brains myelination repair processes start to break down measurably from about age 35, causing us to become slower, less flexible and more forgetful.  More importantly he noticed that the pattern of degeneration across the brain in which this occurs start in the more complex and newly evolved areas (frontal lobe first) and progress in a way that actually resembles stages of dementia. The types of proteins and the large volume of biological material involved in myelin breakdown are also implicated in overloading the brains neuro...

BREDESEN PROTOCOL AND SENS FRAMEWORK

Cognitive decline is a sub discipline of Alzheimer's research and so benefits from a vast amount of clinical research which covers almost every known facet of the mind.  The approach employed here will be based on a refinement of the well known "Bredesen Protocol".    https://www.drbredesen.com/thebredesenprotocol The Bredesen Protocol is the only treatment which has reversed cognitive decline safely and consistently in clinical trials.   This approach posits Cognitive decline as a multi-factorial systems problem and targets each system with a separate treatment in combination. Many of these treatments involve simple and diet lifestyle adjustments while others involve readily available drugs and treatments.   This protocol is complex and extremely hard for those experiencing dementia to adhere to,  but is ideally suited for a younger age group aiming to address the problem at an early stage.   O...

PROJECT ZERO MIND PATHWAY MAPPING

THE PROBLEM When researching complex systems subjects like cognitive decline, the researchers mind and teams of researchers minds are soon overwhelmed.  Without resorting to modeling via map and systems then heuristics, local minima thinking and bias will take over.  Science methods alone without complex mapping just improve on this by enabling very accurate local minima thinking which can join up with other teams local minima thinking later. Hopefully the bigger picture will emerge, but hundreds of international teams can still be stuck in the same minima and this is one reason why current research is very slow. Systems theory mapping is now being employed but the uptake by the main research body is still very slow.  An application in this project is given hundreds of contradicting theories, targets and methods covering every facet of the mind how are we to simplify the problem of treatments ?  SENS framework proposes its 7 pillars of ageing underl...
